Infrastructure

As a leading investor in and operator of high quality infrastructure assets worldwide, with over 100 years of experience, Brookfield is leveraging its expertise to offer private equity investment strategies in infrastructure to institutional investors seeking attractive, inflation protected returns with low volatility.

We are currently sponsoring and managing number of infrastructure funds or partnerships that are truly global in nature and include the following:

Chilean Transmission Fund
Brookfield established its $2.8 Billion Chilean Transmission Fund in 2006 with the acquisition of over 8,000 kilometres of transmission lines and 51 power stations in Chile. The assets were acquired from the backbone of the Chilean electricity sector, delivering power to approximately 99 percent of the Chilean population through various local distribution companies. The formation of this Fund furthers our strategy of investing with partners in essential, long life, high quality, infrastructure assets that generate stable and growing cash flows with high barriers to entry and low maintenance capital expenditures. The Fund also provides us with a strong foothold in the Chilean market and generates inflation adjusted regulatory returns with the opportunity to invest in additional rate base at attractive returns. The acquisition of these assets expands our transmission portfolio to over 8,800 kilometers in Northern Ontario and South America and our transmission assets under management to over $3 billion.

Colombia Infrastructure Fund
The Colombia Infrastructure Fund is a $400 million private equity fund established by Brookfield in September 2009 with a number of leading Colombian institutional investors. The Fund is the largest private equity and infrastructure fund ever raised in the country and represents a major step in Brookfield’s plan to expand our presence in Colombia.

Peru Infrastructure Fund
Brookfield was selected in September 2009 as lead Manager of the Peruvian Government-sponsored Infrastructure Fund in partnership with AC Capitales (Apoyo), a leading Peruvian financial and advisory firm. The Fund, targeting $500 million in commitments from Peruvian institutional investors, builds on our experience sponsoring and managing funds as well as our operating and infrastructure expertise in Latin America.
