Our sustainable solutions portfolio is comprised of assets and businesses that enable the transition and includes our investment in Westinghouse (a leading global nuclear services business) and a utility and independent power producer with operations in the Caribbean and Latin America, with 303 MW of wind capacity and 118 MW of solar capacity and a combined LTA of 966, to facilitate the decarbonization of its operations, as well as an operating portfolio of 57 thousand metric tonnes per annum (“TMTPA”) of carbon capture and storage (“CCS”), 3 million Metric Million British thermal units (“MMBtu”) of agricultural renewable natural gas (“RNG”) operating production capacity annually and over 1 million tons of recycled materials annually.

Serving Pennsylvania With Hydropower
In 2016, we acquired this portfolio of two hydro stations in Pennsylvania with 296 megawatts of capacity, enough to power more than 100,000 homes annually. Holtwood benefits from synergies with our Safe Harbor facility, as well as from stable revenues, long-term operating licenses and a market facing significant coal retirements.
The First Wind Repowering Project in New York
In 2022, we completed the first ever wind repowering project in New York State. Using the existing site and towers, we replaced the turbines with the latest technology to increase power output by 30% with no increase to the site footprint. Blade materials will be repurposed for use in cement manufacturing rather than going into landfill.
A Truly Global Utility-Scale Solar Developer
In 2019 we invested in X-Elio, gaining co-control of a global utility-scale solar developer that has constructed more than 3,000 megawatts of capacity on four continents. The company is accelerating its growth plans globally, with approximately 10,000 megawatts in its development pipeline and major projects in construction in places such as Australia, Spain, Italy, Japan, Chile and the United States.
Expertise in the Full Solar Development Process
In 2022, we acquired clean power developer, Urban Grid, and its pipeline of approximately 20,000 megawatts of utility-scale solar and energy storage capacity across the United States. The business came with significant track record and expertise in the full solar development process, from site acquisition through to interconnection, permitting and commercialization.
Generating and Storing Solar Power on a Local Level
We own and operate one of the world’s largest distributed solar and onsite storage platforms, with assets across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North and South America. This portfolio of 5,000 MW includes projects like the 4.5-megawatt distributed solar generation system at a California high school that utilizes both rooftop and parking canopy shade systems in order to locally generate solar power.
Scaling Up the Deployment of Carbon Capture and Storage
In 2022, we announced a strategic investment in Entropy to scale up its market-leading, low-cost carbon capture services business. The business will initially focus on the North American markets, utilizing financial incentives from carbon pricing mechanisms. The Glacier Phase 1 project, commissioned by Entropy in June 2022, will remove and permanently store carbon dioxide from a gas plant in Alberta at a rate of 47,000 tonnes per annum and will scale up to approximately 200,000 tonnes per annum by the end of 2023.
Constructing One of Canada’s Largest Green Hydrogen Projects
In 2021 we announced a partnership with Gazifère Inc, an Enbridge company, to construct one of Canada’s largest green hydrogen projects. A 20 MW electrolyzer will be built adjacent to an existing hydroelectric facility to produce zero emission hydrogen for injection into the local gas grid.
