Web Fraud and Phishing Warning
Brookfield is a leading global alternative asset manager. Cybercriminals sometimes misuse Brookfield’s name, brands, logos, websites, and employee identities to run fraudulent schemes—via websites, texts, emails, mailings, phone calls, social media, and other platforms. These tactics evolve continually and often use false pretenses to obtain personal information. Many are “phishing” attempts to steal confidential data.
Below is general information on how to recognize and avoid common schemes.
Common Scams
- Investment Scams: unsolicited offers of “high-yield” investments using Brookfield’s name are typically frauds
- Email/Text phishing: fake links/attachments or requests for personal or banking details
- Vishing (phone): urgent-sounding calls pretending to be Brookfield or a regulator
- Wire/payment changes: sudden “new” account details or pressure to move funds
- Job/social media scams: fake roles, paid “interviews,” messages via chat apps
- Fake apps/sites: look-alike domains or mobile apps using Brookfield branding
Best Practices
- Verify site and sender: Use brookfield.com and email from @brookfield.com only. If in doubt, contact us via the Contact page or email privacyofficer@brookfield.com
- Read carefully: Watch for typos, odd domains, unfamiliar links/attachments, or urgent/awkward wording
- Never share passwords/MFA codes: Brookfield will not ask for them
- Avoid suspicious downloads: Only install apps/files from trusted sources
- Be skeptical of unsolicited contact: Don’t provide personal or banking info to unknown callers or messages
- Confirm payment changes: Independently verify any change to wiring or payment instructions using known contact details
- Treat social-media job offers with caution: All open roles are listed on Brookfield’s Careers page; we never charge candidates
- For guidance, see the U.S. SEC’s investor resources at investor.gov
How to Report Fraud
If you think are a victim or notice any suspicious activity:
- Stop engaging. Don’t click links or transfer funds
- Verify directly with your usual Brookfield contact or via privacyofficer@brookfield.com or brookfield.com
- Report to local authorities and, where applicable (U.S.), the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), or the U.S. Postal Inspection Service
